Para Hills Preschool is a fully equipped School-based Preschool. Our staff have high levels of expertise in Early Years Education. Our program allows children to follow their interests, express their ideas and learn and play together.
Being on the school site means that children have excellent opportunities to transition from Playgroup, to Preschool to School. Children attending the Para Hills Preschool have regular access to school resources and experiences including the Computer Room, Resource Centre, special events and specialist equipment and services.

Hats
Our SunSmart Policy requires all children and staff to wear a hat outside from 1st August to 30th April. Even on a dull day U.V. rays can still harm the skin at this time of the year. The hat needs to protect the neck, face and ears which means a hat with a brim all around or a legionnaire’s hat. So that your child always has a hat and it is not forgotten on any day, could you please allow your child to either keep their hat at Pre School or put it/keep it in their bag. Please write your child’s name on his/her hat, bag, jumpers, shoes, socks, etc. so that these can be easily identified.
Footwear
Research and evidence gathered by Paediatric Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Podiatrists highlight the following benefits of barefoot play: greater balance, strength, fewer foot conditions and better posture. Our preschool supports this evidence and children can choose to remove footwear whilst participating in preschool sessions.
For Work, Health & Safety reasons, Thongs, shoes with heels and Croc styles are not permitted to be worn. To assist your child’s growing independence, footwear that is easily taken off and put on is essential.
Clothing
As we are a SunSmart school, children need to wear clothes that cover their shoulders (i.e. no tank tops, shoe-string straps, etc). Please ensure all clothing is suitable for outdoor activities such as climbing, swinging, riding, etc. Preschool can be very messy, so clothing that can be easily washed is recommended.
Transition Visits
There are four transition visits to Para Hills School P-7 organised during term 4, with children placed where possible with their class teacher for the following year. Children with special rights can have additional transition visits if required.
Enrolments
If your child turns four before May 1, they can start Preschool on the first day of Term One in that year. If your child turns four on or after May 1, they can start Preschool on the first day of Term One the following year.
