General Information

Absences (children)

In the first instance parents/caregivers are required to phone the school to advise of their child's absence. Upon their return children are required to bring a note explaining any absences. These notes, which in the case of children in Years 3-7 may be in the child's diary or in R-2 Communication Books, are to be dated and signed by the teacher.

Accurate records of student absentees is a legal requirement and is audited on a regular basis.

Telephone messages about student absences are recorded at the front office and a duplicate copy of the message is given to their teacher. The school office is open from 8.30am – 4.00pm.

Assembly

Junior Primary School assemblies are usually held on Wednesday of even weeks of the term at 9:15 am. Primary School assemblies are usually held every second Wednesday from 9.00 to 9.30 am on weeks 2, 5, 7 and 9 of the school term. Classes and specialist programs coordinate assemblies each term, students play a major role in coordinating and officiating at school assemblies.

Canteen

Lunches can be ordered daily through the school from a local deli Monday to Friday. Food is not available for purchase at recess times.

School FrontCollecting children early

Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds during the school day unless collected by a parent/caregiver or an adult member of the extended family. Parents/Caregivers collecting children early must report to the Front Office upon arrival and complete an early collection form which is then given to the teacher in charge when their child is collected.

Collection of monies

All monies coming into the school can be paid between 8:30am and 3:30 pm any day at the Front Office. Children are encouraged to bring all money in envelopes clearly stating name, room number, amount and purpose for payment.

Excursions

Teachers organise school excursions and on occasions camps to complement their current learning program. Cost is always a consideration when planning excursions and every effort is made to make sure parents/careers are given enough warning so that they can budget for any payments that may be requested. Permission for local excursions (i.e. walking distances) is agreed to at enrolment and can occur at any time.
